Setup

Does Parts Diagram work with my theme?

Any Online Store 2.0 theme works. That includes every theme Shopify has published since mid-2021 (Dawn, Refresh, Sense, and every paid theme on the Shopify Theme Store).

Themes from before mid-2021 are usually not OS 2.0 and don't support Theme App Extensions.

Do I need a developer to install it?

No. Installation is the standard Shopify app flow: click Add app, approve scopes. Adding the block to your theme is a drag-and-drop step in the customize editor — no code edits.

Do I need to upload products into the app?

No. The app reads products and variants directly from your existing Shopify catalog. You only upload the diagram image itself.

Diagrams & hotspots

How many hotspots can a diagram have?

There is no fixed limit. In practice, diagrams with 30+ hotspots work fine but become hard for shoppers to navigate visually. If your product genuinely has more parts than that, consider splitting into multiple diagrams (one per assembly) and assigning all of them to the same product.

Can a hotspot link to a product on another store?

No — only to products in the same Shopify store the app is installed on. Cross-store linking is on the roadmap but not available today.

Can a hotspot be linked to a collection or page?

Currently hotspots only support product and variant targets. Linking to collections, pages, or external URLs is on the roadmap.

What happens if I delete a product after mapping it?

The hotspot keeps its mapping but the storefront popup shows "currently unavailable". The admin dashboard surfaces a warning and the affected diagram is flagged as Has issues in the list.

Storefront

Why don't I see prices on my live site?

Check Settings → Storefront → Show prices. If it's enabled and prices still don't appear, the most common cause is an unhealthy hotspot mapping — open the diagram editor and verify each hotspot has a current product and variant.

Why is the Add to cart button missing?

Either Show add-to-cart is off in Settings → Storefront, or the variant is sold out (in which case the button is replaced with Sold out state).

Why doesn't the variant picker appear in the popup?

Three possibilities:

  1. The hotspot is mapped to a specific variant, not the product — in which case there's no choice to make.
  2. The product only has the auto-default Default Title variant (i.e. it has no real variants). The picker is hidden in this case to avoid clutter.
  3. Show variant selector is off in the storefront settings.
Does it work on mobile?

Yes. The block uses responsive layouts: side panel collapses below the diagram on narrow screens, hotspots are tappable with thumbs, and the popup is sized for mobile use.

Billing & data

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New installs include a trial — see Plans & billing. The remaining trial days appear at the top of the Billing screen.

What happens to my diagrams if I uninstall?

They are kept in cold storage for 30 days. Reinstalling within that window restores everything. After 30 days the data is permanently deleted.

Can I export my data?

Yes — see Import & Export. Diagrams export as JSON; assets export as a zip.

Performance

Will the block slow down my product page?

The block is loaded asynchronously and renders a placeholder skeleton until data arrives, so it doesn't block the rest of your page. Typical first paint is under 300 ms on warm cache.

Does the block affect Lighthouse scores?

Negligibly. The block follows Theme Store performance guidelines (CSS ≤ 100 KB, JS ≤ 16 KB, deferred loading) so Lighthouse scores on stores using the block remain in the green tier.
